Day 1
Leave London for a tour of the world famous University City of Oxford.
Our next highlight is Warwick for a visit to Britain's finest medieval
castle followed by a tour of Stratford upon Avon, and the birthplace
of William Shakespeare. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2
On to York, where inside the ancient city walls, we wonder through
narrow cobbled streets, see the 15 century Shambles and Minster -
England's largest medieval cathedral. Then we are off to Scotland,
across wild Northumberland moors and the rolling Border Country, past
the romantic ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, for a visit to a tweed mill
and shop and then onto Scotland's capital, Edinburgh. In the evening,
we enjoy a grand Scottish night out, with a Scottish dinner with haggis,
Scottish folk dancing and singing plus the sounds of bagpipes. Overnight
Edinburgh.
Day 3
We start the day with a tour of Edinburgh including the stately Royal
Mile, passing ancient St Giles Cathedral, Holyrood Palace and Princes
Street before we visit the awe inspiring Edinburgh Castle, perched
high above the city. Then we are off in to the mountains and lakes
passing Stirling Castle and the Wallace 'Braveheart' monument en route
for the Trossachs National Park for a visit to a Scottish Woollen
Mill. In the afternoon we drive by Loch Vennacher and take a cruise
on the beautiful Loch Katrine before a lakeside tour along the 'bonnie
banks' of Loch Lomond. Return to Edinburgh for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
We head south for the border to visit Gretna Green, for the 'Anvil
Wedding Ceremony' in the Blacksmiths Shop before crossing the border
into England for a scenic tour of the Lake District National Park.
We continue on to the Roman city of Chester for dinner and overnight.
Day 5
We start the day with a tour of Chester's unique 17 Century black
and white 'Rows' (shopping arcades) and the Cathedral and then visit
for famous Wedgewood china factory. Our journey continues with a tour
of the quaintly named golden stone villages of the Cotswolds before
continuing on to Bristol for dinner and overnight.
Day 6
We start the day with a tour of Bath and see Pulteney Bridge and the
Roman Baths and then travel on to Stourhead to explore one of Britain's
finest gardens. Our next highlight is the world famous Stonehenge
ancient monument that we pass on our way to Salisbury for a tour of
the magnificent Cathedral before returning to London.
