Day
One
Arrive Edinburgh airport. A group transfer is provided to your Edinburgh
Hotel. Overnight in Edinburgh

Two
In the morning we take a tour of the many attractions of Edinburgh
including the Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile and Princes
Street which is lined with the world renowned quality shops. The afternoon
is free for shopping or just wandering around this elegant capital
city. Overnight in Edinburgh
Day
Three
We travel north over the Forth Road Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife
and onwards to the coast of St Andrews, the home of golf. Here we
have time for an optional visit to the cathedral and castle, to see
Scotland's oldest University or walk the "Old Course". In
the afternoon we continue over the Tay Bridge to Dundee, the home
of Captain Scott of the Antarctic and his ship the 'Discovery'. We
then visit Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mother and
the legendary inspiration for Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. We then continue
to Perth, the heart of the Scotch Whisky distilling industry. Dinner
and overnight in Perth

Four
The day starts with a visit to Scone Palace, the ancient crowning
place for Scottish Kings and now a treasure house of antiques and
art. We then drive through the spectacular mountain scenery of the
Grampians to Braemar for a lunch stop and a visit to the heritage
centre. We then visit Braemar Castle - before continuing onto Aberdeen
for a panoramic tour and into our hotel. Dinner and overnight in Aberdeen
Day
Five
We travel north to follow the Spey Valley whisky trail for a distillery
visit and tasting and onto Elgin, passing through some of the oldest
and most picturesque working fishing villages in Scotland. In Elgin
we see the ruins of the 'Lantern of the North', which was once the
most spectacular cathedral in Scotland. We then continue to Inverness,
the capital of the Highlands, for a panoramic city tour and an optional
visit to the cashmere and wool Mill with free time for souvenir shopping.

Day
Six
We pass through spectacular Highland scenery to the west coast to
visit the picturesque Urquart Castle. We then cross the bridge 'over
the sea to Skye' and tour along the coast road through the Cuillin
Hills to the island's capital, the pretty harbourside village of Portree,
where we have leisure time to wander around and explore the shops,
fishing harbour and craft centres, before returning in the late afternoon
to Inverness. Dinner and overnight in Inverness
Day
Seven
We start the day travelling along the banks of Loch Ness, home of
the famous monster 'Nessie' which is rarely spotted, and onto Fort
William, in the shadow of Britain's highest mountain Ben Nevis, for
a lunch stop. The tour continues through Glencoe and onto Loch Lomond
where we take a boat cruise. We take a brief panoramic tour of Glasgow
the City of Architecture 1999 before heading to our hotel. Dinner
and overnight in Glasgow

Eight
After breakfast, a transfer is provided to Glasgow or Edinburgh airport
for your flight home.
