Gwydir Castle - Llanrwst, Gwynedd - 2 miles north of Betws-y-Coed
Gwydir Castle is a Grade I listed, early Tudor courtyard house, set in ten acres of important historic gardens and located in the enchanting foothills of Snowdonia. The castle is primarily a family home although guests are warmly welcomed to share in the tranquil and timeless atmosphere. Former notable guests include King Charles I, Lord Leicester, King George V, and Queen Mary. The castle is within pleasant walking distance of the town of Llanrwst, with convenient rail and bus connections. Medieval Conwy and Betws-y-Coed are within easy reach.

Maesmor Hall - Maerdy, Corwen, Clwyd - 12 miles west of Llangollen
Maesmor Hall is a Grade II listed property on a site dating from the thirteenth century and is surrounded by its own parkland with a tributary of the River Dee running to the rear of the house. The Hall underwent alterations and refinements in the 1800's and 1920's and now has an indoor swimming pool complex with sauna, shower and changing rooms and the grounds include a croquet lawn and hard tennis court. It is ideally situated for visiting Chester and North Wales with Snowdonia on the doorstep and Betws-y-Coed close by. Children welcome.

Plas Alltyferin - Pontargothi, Nantgaredig, Carmarthenshire - 8 miles east of Carmarthen.
This Georgian (c 1780) Country House is set in its own 260 acre farm and woodland with sweeping views across its own historic motte and bailey castle to unspoilt countryside and the Towy Valley beyond. At Alltyferin itself there are lovely walks around the estate, either up to our trig point or along the River Cothi which runs through the property, or in the woodlands. This property offers two twin bedded guest rooms facing the view, one with shower and en-suite facilities, the other with private bathroom right next door. There is a downstairs sitting room where guests may watch tv and read, and a panelled dining room where a full cooked breakfast is served. We don't provide evening meals, but there is a choice of five excellent pubs and a restaurant within a couple of miles.
