Baverstock Manor was built in the fifteenth century as a retreat
house for the Abbess of Wilton. The stone built house has a Jacobean
addition and is situated in a secluded hamlet in the Nadder Valley.
It is now a family home with lovely gardens which include a hard
tennis court and heated outdoor swimming pool. The city of Salisbury,
Stonehenge and Wilton House are all within a twenty minute drive
and Bath, Oxford, and London are within easy reach. Children over
twelve welcome. No smoking in bedrooms.

Manor - Winsley Nr Bradford-on-Avon Wiltshire - 5 miles south
of Bath
Burghope Manor is a 13th century country manor house standing
in beautiful countryside on the edge of Winsley but is only five
miles from the Roman/Georgian city of Bath. Although steeped in
history, Burghope is first and foremost a living family home.
It has been carefully modernized so that its wealth of historical
features are complemented by present day comforts which include
full central heating and attractively furnished en-suite bedrooms.
The village pub, a short walk through the old village from the

between Topsham and Exmouth. Built in 1710 by a wealthy wool merchant,
its classic Palladian style architecture is a landmark when glimpsed
from the Bridge Inn across the Clyst Valley. A warm and inviting

House - Brompton Regis, Dulverton, Somerset - 16 miles north
of Tiverton
Hiccombe House is an interesting old beamed Somerset farmhouse
dating mainly from the sixteenth century. It is situated in a
peaceful wooded valley in the Exmoor National Park, amid thirty
acres of land. It is about one mile from the small village of
Brompton Regis with its ancient church, and a medieval inn where
excellent meals can be obtained. Your hosts, he a retired solicitor
and she a spare time potter, are happy to assist guests plan their
excursions with the aid of many maps and guide books. Sorry, no

Manor - Hilfield, Dorchester, Dorset - 7 miles south of Sherborne
An exceptional stone built property with mullioned windows, set
in a lovely garden in the heart of Hardy's Dorset which has superb
views from the castellated roof terrace. The house is beautifully
furnished, a trophy hall leads to an unusual octagonal drawing
room and an oak panelled dinning room. Bathrooms are a feature
of the property and the double bedroom has a four-poster bed.
Hilfield is an excellent center for touring with attractions such
as Bath, Stonehenge, Exmoor and Weymouth all within an hours drive.

This well appointed and comfortable family home stands in its
own spacious gardens and grounds of over sixty acres. The light
and airy rooms include a lovely panelled drawing room with log
fire for the use of guests. Interesting dinner menus incorporate
home produce. Swimming, tennis, and croquet are all available
and also riding by arrangement including the use of the outdoor
menage. Bath, Cirencester, the Cotswolds, and M4 are easily accessible.
Notable local properties of interest include Bowood House, Corsham

of Salisbury
Peacefully situated in rolling countryside, Marsh Barn has been
beautifully converted to a comfortable home, with original 200
year old beams and a wood burning stove. Spacious rooms, decorated
in soft colours and furnished with antiques and oil paintings
overlook the terrace and croquet lawn, with cornfields and woods
beyond. Picturesque Rockbourne village, bordered by a stream,
has a Roman villa and traditional pub. Good food available locally.
Well placed for extended stays, we are within easy reach of Salisbury
and Winchester Cathedrals, Wilton House, Longleat, Beaulieu, Stonehenge
and Bath. The New Forest and coast are easily accessible, with
golf and fishing nearby. Mrs. Ball speaks good French, organizes
garden tours for overseas visitors and teaches English to foreigners.

Court - Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton, Somerset - 5 miles west
of Taunton
This nineteenth century mansion of character which has been in
the same family since 1838, retains many original features and
was described by one visitor as "a house that opens its arms
to welcome you". Standing in its own parkland with extensive
views to the Quantock and Blackdown Hills, it is an ideal starting
point for leisurely West country touring. Within the grounds there
are two hard tennis courts and a swimming pool (heated May to
September). The large garden is open to the public under National
Garden Scheme twice a year. There is space to relax and meals
are taken in the ancestral dining room. Children over twelve welcome.

Old Rectory - St Tudy, Wadebridge, Cornwall - 9 miles North
of Bodmin
The Old Rectory offers high quality accommodation in Cornwall.
The house was described by John Betjeman, the late Poet Laureate,
as a handsome rectory of stone close to Port Isaac Bay. Built
in 1909, spacious rooms are furnished with antiques. It is set
in the middle of a pretty village midway between Wadebridge and
Bodmin, within 20 minutes of the popular north coast of Cornwall
and places such as Rock, Polzeath and Port Isaac. The Old Rectory
is ideally situated for walking, hiring bicycles and travelling
the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, or just relaxing and
enjoying the beaches.
Children Over 10 years old are allowed, as are Dogs - if fully
house trained. Smoking is allowed but not upstairs in rooms.

refurbished in 1989 and 1990, with creation of a lake and re-planting
of the gardens. It is set amid a fifty acre sheep farm and is
approached via a private track over an eighteenth century bridge
in the heart of Hardy country. Your hostess is an experienced
and skilled cook who makes full use of fresh home grown vegetables,
eggs from her own chickens, delicious home grown lamb and game
in season. Being just six miles from the xoast this is an excellent

Egloshayle is a charming village with an excellent pub. Within
walking distance of Wadebridge, this is an area of outstanding
natural beauty, it is ideal for a wide range of activities. Bikers
and walkers may enjoy the Camel Trail. There are plenty of country
pubs and restaurants and places of historic interest and National

| Woodhayes
- Honiton, Devon - 2 miles northeast of Honiton
Woodhayes, a classical Georgian house, is surrounded by 150 acres
of wood and pasture land and one acre of carefully tended garden,
in the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The house has commanding views from all windows, Dumpdon Celtic
Hill Fort rises behind the house and the River Otter is to the
south. Guests dine by candlelight in the eighteenth century dining
room surrounded by ancestral portraits. Christy produces delicious
cuisine using produce from the farm and vegetable garden. The
