Walk the ancient foot path along Loch Hourn

Climb the "Matterhorn of Scotland" - Sgurr na Ciche

Scottish Wilderness Expeditions
5 Nights / 6 Days

The Knoydart Peninsula
Often described as the last wilderness in Scotland, this remote and beautiful peninsula is a special place accessible only by boat or by mountain track. Our expedition combines the best of wilderness camping with a route through the heart of this rugged peninsula, as you traverse high mountain passes and follow ancient tracks, in exploration of Knoydart's remote summits and its uninhabited glens.

Day 1 - Kinlochhourn to Barrisdale Bay
Meet in Inverness and drive along Loch Ness to Kinlochhourn. On foot, follow an ancient path along the southern shores of Loch Hourn to Barrisdale Bay for the first night's camping.

Day 2 - Ladhar Bheinn
Depart for a walk to Scotland's most westerly mainland "Munro" (mountain over 3,000 feet), Ladhar Bheinn. Descend to the shores of Loch Hourn and relax by the fire at our camp in Barrisdale Bay.

Day 3 - Loch Nevis
Head over high mountain pass of Mam Unndalain into beautiful Glen Carnoch to the shores of Loch Nevis where we set up camp.

Day 4 - Sgurr na Ciche
Climb Sgurr na Ciche, often referred to as Scotland's own "Matterhorn", this spectacular conical-shaped peak towers above the headwaters of Loch Nevis. Views as far as Ben Nevis and the Outer Hebrides. Descend via the spine of a broad ridge to the camp.

Day 5 - Mam Meadail Pass - Inverie
Set off on an ancient mountain path which zig-zags its way over a spectacular high pass, the Mam Meadail. Here we enjoy our first glimpse of human settlement, the tiny Highland village of Inverie. Head swiftly to the 'Old Forge', the remotest put in Britain.

Day 6 - Return to Inverness
Board a boat at Inverie Pier and leave Knoydart for sailing to Mallaig. Drive back across the Highlands to Inverness.

Tours include the following:
Return transport from start point by Land Rover.
Accommodation in twin/double tented accommodations with last night in a comfortable bunkhouse
